Meet Angie

From Personal Crisis to Public Mission

Angie’s path into botanical medicine began in 2002 when her father was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Determined to understand the root cause, she discovered Astragalus Root—her first introduction to the healing power of plants. Through relentless research, she uncovered that a simple parasite had caused his cancer, a revelation that ignited her lifelong commitment to sharing this knowledge with others.

Her dedication deepened in 2020 when she contracted COVID-19 and could no longer manage her blood sugar naturally. A pancreatic surgeon introduced her to botanical solutions for immune support and metabolic health, solidifying her mission to educate others navigating wellness in a post-COVID world. For 24 years, Angie has been self-taught in botanical medicine. For 14 years, she has served as a Medical Advocate, trained in 2012 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord through a Department of Defense grant. That training in research methodology now fuels her ability to translate complex botanical science into practical, accessible wellness strategies for families.

Sourcing Standards: Local, Wild, and Organic

Angie’s commitment to quality begins with sourcing locally. Her standards are:

  1. Wildcrafted or foraged from local producers first
  2. Certified organic as the secondary standard

This ensures that every botanical recommended or sold at Holistic Mercantile meets the highest standards of purity and potency.

Discover the Healing Power of Herbs

Angie believes that whole-body wellness starts in the home. Here are her top four staple herbs for every household:

Oregano
Supports respiratory health when seasonal challenges arise

Turmeric with Black Pepper
Manages inflammation across all ages

Lemon Balm
Soothes screaming babies and calms mom’s anxiety

Clove
Eases pain from teething babies to adult back discomfort

Botanicals vs. Pharmaceuticals

Angie’s approach is rooted in a fundamental truth: Botanicals are complex, and their effects are often broader and more comprehensive in healing the root cause. Unlike pharmaceuticals, which typically target isolated symptoms, botanical medicine works synergistically with the body’s innate ability to heal itself—often with far fewer long-term side effects.

She teaches families to view botanicals not as “alternatives” but as foundational tools for whole-body wellness. Her philosophy centers on the mind, body, and spirit connection, empowering clients to become their own medical advocates.

Education, Not Prescription

Angie is clear about her role: “We educate you to be your own medical advocate.”

At Holistic Mercantile, the focus is on coaching and education, not medical diagnosis or prescription. Angie offers suggestions and research-based guidance, then empowers clients to decide their own treatment course. She provides ongoing support and follow-up education as circumstances evolve, always respecting the boundary between wellness education and medical practice.

Beyond the Apothecary: The Real Angie

When she’s not researching botanicals or teaching workshops, Angie loves:

  • Traveling and visiting state and federal parks
  • Gardening and growing her own herbs
  • Spending time with her grandchildren
  • Lifelong learning—a value that defines her approach to both life and health

Her guiding principle, borrowed from William Eleazar Barton, sums up her philosophy perfectly:

“She simply forbade herself the cheap luxury of a closed mind.”
